Karla Shelton, President and Digital Strategist
When the Web was in its infancy in 1995, a young woman armed with a Marketing degree became fascinated by the possibilities of the new medium and set out to learn everything she could on the subject in an effort to begin harnessing it as a business tool. She became so interested in her studies that she changed careers and joined the fledgling rank of the earliest Web developers.
She moved into positions of increasingly broad Web marketing and management responsibility at global companies like 3COM/US Robotics. Managing an online community for US Robotics in 1997, Karla wrote a hands-on guidebook, The Virtual Community Companion, to help newly minted community managers oversee, moderate and monetize their online ventures.
Five years as Director, e-Marketing Services, at one of the nation’s most renowned advertising and marketing agencies (Critical Mass, part of the Omnicom network of global agencies) Karla finely tuned her Web marketing, advertising, and analytics skills, working on accounts such as Mercedes-Benz, Proctor & Gamble and Hyatt.
Directorships at other global enterprises and media agencies continued to broaden and deepen Karla’s knowledge and experience. Requests for her expertise eventually led her to freelance as a Web marketing consultant to a variety of organizations. Some of these were smaller organizations with big marketing needs but limited funds. In working with her new clients, Karla discovered she enjoyed helping the smaller organizations achieve what were often remarkable results by stretching their marketing dollars through very efficient Web-based and search engine optimization tactics. And as the demand for her consulting services grew, she saw an opportunity to establish her own business. Find8 soon became a reality.
Robin Johnsen, Head of Search Engine Marketing
In 2010, Robin Johnsen, an MBA-in-progress, was looking for experience. She had always excelled at writing, and had studied extensively to develop that skill, but also felt the need to temper her ability with further knowledge of business - particularly marketing. So, with a BA in writing and a half-finished MBA in marketing, she had a unique set of skills. And she wanted to use all of them.
In Find8, Robin found the opportunity to blend her English and marketing backgrounds into one challenging, exciting job. From the moment she began at Find8, back when the company was housed in a small office on the corner of 9th and Main, she knew she was becoming a part of something different. Where other companies offered cubicles and office doors, Find8 demonstrated an open environment that encouraged and nurtured creativity in the marketing process. The choice was clear.
Now, after earning her MBA and taking the position of Head of Search Engine Marketing, Robin enjoys meeting and speaking with the huge range of businesses Find8 serves. She manages a team of writers and content specialists who play a key role in getting your business found, but her favorite part of the job will always be learning about new industries and seeing each business succeed online.
William Shelton, SEO Operations
Bill Shelton moves behind the scenes at Find8, overseeing each project and making sure the cogs are turning smoothly. As if that wasn’t enough work, Bill is also Find8’s e-commerce catalog SEO consultant. He specializes in Channel Advisor, which allows him to create numerous optimized product listings on Amazon, eBay, and Buy.com.
Josh Gurley, SEO Research Analyst
Josh uses his marketing background to perform insightful analysis for our clients to take their business to an optimized position online. His specialties include keyword research, competitive analysis, and benchmark analysis.
Jina Stockton, Business Listing Operations Assistant
Jina is trained in the fine art of business listing generation and management. She manages Find8 clients’ Google Places listings, as well as our Localeze and UBL data feeds.
